It’s been six months and Kenyatta Burrus is still trying to figure out why she was arrested…and fired.
The former deputy clerk of court was arrested April 23 and charged with second degree trespass. The arrest report states that she was told to vacate the premises and not to return by Jan Cahoon, clerk of court for Craven County.
But Burrus tells a different story.
Burrus explained to the Independent Register that she had a good relationship with Cahoon and the rest of her coworkers. However, she had a slight problem with her supervisor, Tami Cahoon Thomas.
Burrus, an African-American, said that Thomas made comments that “were racial, negative and at times very demeaning towards me.” One comment, Burrus recalled, was Thomas telling her to “attend to the poor and the blacks” because she “could understand what they said.” Burrus said Thomas also made several inappropriate comments regarding her hair extensions.
Burrus said the work environment had not only made her uncomfortable, but physically sick as well (including headaches and vomiting) and she had to be put on anti-nausea medication.
On Jan. 9, Burrus approached Cahoon and expressed her concerns about Thomas and asked to be moved to a different division. Instead, Burrus said she was demoted to filing in the attic and basement of the courthouse.
“At the time I expressed my concerns to my boss, I had no idea Jan Cahoon would inform Tami of everything I said,” Burrus said.
One day, after delivering a file to a courtroom, Burrus said she was informed by Thomas that she was banned from all courtrooms in Craven County. When Burrus asked Cahoon about the ban, she says the clerk knew nothing about it…until Burrus said it was Thomas who told her. Burrus said Cahoon’s attitude then changed as she said, “Just do whatever Tami says.”
Burrus said Thomas was called in and she went back to her desk and began typing. Shortly thereafter, several deputies came into the office. When she noticed they were eyeing her, she got out of her chair and walked around her desk. She then nervously fell to the floor and said she was arrested while trying to get back up.
After being cuffed in front of her coworkers and escorted to the sheriff’s office, she still didn’t know why she had been arrested. It wasn’t until one of the deputies called Cahoon’s office that Burrus was told of her “offense.”
“I have not received any explanations for her actions,” Burrus said.
She has since filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Oppurtuinty Commision for racial discrimination and retaliation. She also plans to follow through with a civil suit against the clerk of court “regardless of the outcome of the EEOC’s investigation.”
Burrus also sought help from the local chapter of the NAACP, which turned out to be unfruitful.
“I sincerely believe that in this day and time ignorance is no excuse for unethical, discriminatory behavior in the workplace,” Burrus said in a statement to the I.R.
“I think that our elected officials sometime tend to forget that once they are elected that there are laws that they still have to abide by. And that their employees still have the right to work in a non-bias(ed), non-hostile environment, including the right to voice any concerns without fear of retaliation.”
Since Burrus worked with the county courts, no judge in Craven County should be allowed to hear her case. Burrus said that at her last court appearance, Judge Paul Quinn recused himself.
She was told by the District Attorney’s office that Judge Jerry Waddell is responsible for requesting a visting judge. Burrus said she called Raleigh and at that point no request had been made.
During her Oct. 27 appearance in front of Judge Quinn, Burrus said her court date was scheduled for Nov. 24. She said she recieved a phone call on Nov. 12 telling her she should have been in court that day. She stuck by her Nov. 24 date because she had recieved no summons for an earlier date.
The court calendar had the date listed as Nov. 24 last week. But as of the time of publication, she no longer appears on the calendar.
Burrus was not in court Monday, but had previously filed a continuance because of a doctor appointment. This morning, she contacted the I.R. saying after calling the clerk’s office, she was informed that there was an order for her arrest.
Burrus said her family and friends are very supportive. She has also gained support from former county commissioner Bill Harper, who had a coffin seized by deputies several days before the election from a polling station.
Even though she feels she is the subject of a witch hunt, Burrus isn’t going down easy. “Instead of allowing this situation to completely consume my life negatively, I have written a book,” Burrus said.
In the book titled “SECRETS,” Burrus goes into detail about her experiences in the clerk’s office and “a lot of the secrets concerning the Craven County Courhouse altogether.”

That is ridiculous! Here is a woman who truly needs their type of support, and they offer nothing?! The NAACP is nothing but a bunch of pansies pandering their political agenda, whatever they decide it is today.
Kudos to Harper for supporting her when her own people’s “Association” wouldn’t! I hope and pray that for her sake she wins her case when she makes it. No one should have to go to work and feel as if they’re being discriminated against.

The courts are run by the DA office. Look who is in charge of the DA office, Scott Thomas. This man is afraid of his our shadow, unless his daddy tells him to not be. The entire court system in Craven County is made up of a bunch of butt kissers. It appears that Burrus would not kiss butt. Good for her!!

I don’t doubt this one bit. This whole area is just rife with stories like this. Harper and the Republican party acting outraged by all this is humorous too, as I think their main objections are more, “This isn’t right. WE should be the ones screwing people over!” than anything else. Loyalty doesn’t mean much for any of these folks. I’ve seen some real lifelong yellow-dog Republicans and Democrats in this area run into problems with the system, only to learn the hard way that all these impassioned cries for liberty and justice and “working for you!” they trot out every election time don’t amount to anything. That candidate they’ve always hung out with, slapped on the back, exchanged greetings and smiles with, knows your family by name, at the end of the day, you might’ve even spent years campaigning and donating to them….. only to find out these local politicos, why…they’re just like the big guys!
Ultimately….if the other party’s more powerful than you, (and let’s face it….there is not a lot of upward mobility going to happen around here, so you’re probably stuck where you are), it’s a lot less politically risky to steamroll over the little guy just because it’s a heck of a lot harder for them to fight back.

It appears that maybe the race card would not have been used if not for Tami C. Thomas’ ignorant comments. It’s just too easy to treat people the way you would have them treat you. It seems that Tami C. Thomas is a big bully that needs to take some type of ethnic sensitivity course or keep her mouth shut and do the job our tax money pays her to do . I see she’ll be the employee that will cost the Clerk’s Office big money before they get the big picture.

Hmmm, I wonder if the great Craven County Clerk Jan H. Cahoon know that retaliation is against the law.The arrest warrant for Burrus was signed by Jan H. Cahoon Clerk of Superior Court for Craven County and not by a District Court Judge. Although Burrus was issued the arrest warrant , she was not arrested today.Instead Burrus
arrived at the magistrate office and called Havelock PD to request that an officer bring the warrant to her…As she requested an officer delivered the warrant and she was served with notice of her new court date and then was released . Thank you goes out to her wonderful supporters because Burrus did not have to pay a dime. The new court date is set for 12/29/2008.
Sounds like the Clerk enjoys wasting tax payers money, when will she get the big picture !

Burrus’ 12/29/08 courtdate is for failure to apear only at that time she will be given the next court date for Jan Cahoon’s sad charges.
This is funny because Burrus’ had already requested for the case to be continued until 3/3/2009.
The big question is why didn’t they just grant Burrus’ request? Or is the great Craven County Clerk of Court using her position to intimidate Burrus’? Or is the Clerk playing games because she thought Burrus’ wanted to relocate? “Key word being thought” LOL, maybe she shouldn’t listen to gossip and instead get the facts. More tax payers money down the drain.

How many times have you known someone to be fired who admitted that they did something wrong?? You all are jumping all over something that you have only heard one very tainted side to. Ms. Cole is so far off the mark that she should be ashamed for making all that up.

Ms. Burrus trusted her boss. I have seen the pictures that are posted on Ms. Burrus’ website and it looks like she and Jan Cahoon got along pretty good. , along with all the other clerks that worked with her. And I have been in Craven County Clerks Office before so I know first hand how the Clerk and those who work for her behave. They only behave nicely when its election time.And right now because EEOC is involved ,I ‘m sure. Yes, Burrus was wrong for trusting a political snake. And that is the truth. Besides if Burrus was a problem where is the proof !!! Where is it?And why did everything change after she made the report?And what did Burrus do to get fired?? I bet they are working hard trying to find a reason for all of this drama. You know just like I do that the politicos will protect their own and that what’s happening now.Burrus is just one person up against political big wigs who will use all of their resources to make her look bad! When have you known a political big wig to admit they broke the law and lied. She is just standing up for her rights . Or does that only apply as long as the Clerk likes you?I think the Clerk is over doing it and bringing negative attention to herself and behaving like a scorned lover. While Ms. Burrus, I am sure is trying to move on with her life. I think Burrus is better off and she’ll continue to do well.

I wonder if you know that you can’t hide information from the Clerk of Court .The Clerk checks all employee information when she hires someone. Doesn’t she have all the records for the whole County? And I am a friend of Ms. Burrus. Please do check out the website we worked hard on it. It’s pretty good if I may say so myself.And that’s no secret everybody knows that information.

Oh and you forgot some other information.
Ms. Burrus was raised in a single parent home and she grew up poor, she is the oldest of four , her father is deceased, divorce one can be found in Craven County and divorce #2 can be found I think in Greenville. Please read both of those files because they were pretty bad marriages. That’s another reason why she has been encouraged to write a book. She has been through a lot in her life time.
Ms. Burrus’ Book Titled Secrets will cover the struggles that she has endured and survived .It will include the domestic violence in two of her marriages. It also covers the time when she was homeless and most of the struggles that she endured just being a single mother . Thank you for helping to promote her book. Please keep up the good work. After going through all of those struggles a book titled Secrets is perfect. Now you can continue with the witch hunt !

Last one for the night. Don’t forget Burrus’ favorite color is blue, she enjoys cooking , reading and spending time with friends and family.
I think she stands about five ft four , brown eyes and black hair this week. And most importantly everything she says can be backed up with real proof . I don’t think she had to search for any information to get something on the Clerk it just fell in her lap. Wow you really thought you were telling Burrus’ secrets. The computers in the Clerk’s office provides information throughout North Carolina . You know names, address’, marriages, divorces, name changes etc.Everybody knows that!And besides I’m sure she knows that her private life will be made public during the EEOC process. And I don’t think she really cares if she has written a book containing all the information you mentioned in it.Ms. Burrus’ past almost certainly was not an issue until the Clerk needed something to use as an excuse for this unprofessional drama.( behavior that is unbecoming of a so called Clerk of Court) Keep digging we all know that this is a witch hunt and you know it too.You just proved that dear emplyee of the Clerk’s office with the comment you just made. It’s pretty sad to know that I’m being taxed to death just so the state can pay the Clerk’s office to take out a personal vendetta. I would like to respond to knowthetruth and bornintheusa……. At present I still have not been given a valid reason for my former employers extreme actions. Thus far the most she has done is hunt for a valid excuse. I do know the truth …..because I am the person who made the complaint to her and I had to work in a hostile environment …..because I complained. Anyone can see that there is something strange about this whole situation. All I can do is wait to see which tall tale they’ll come up with to protect Tami Cahoon Thomas …..and watch them try to make it seem as though I’ve done something wrong. You ‘ve even gone so far that you were calling the personal office in Raleigh making false claims.After you reduced Burrus to filing and before April 23 2008 when you fired her. Wow !
Everybody knew about that except for Burrus. I wonder why? You had all of her co workers walking around scared to talk to the woman because of your lie. I know you thought we wouldn’t find out ! Yeah right, Craven County is too small for your secrets and your games. Oh and lets not forget the little old black lady that you up and got rid of , you told that little old Black lady that Burrus informed you of her situation. Not true, Not true. And she had been working for the Clerk’s office for more than 10 years.Didn’t she work under Tami Cahoon Thomas too before she was canned?? You just can’t seem to tell the truth to save your life. Oh and yeah I know you convinced the little old black lady to later just agree to retire.That was to avoid you having to put in writing what you claimed to be firing her for. Right! That’s after Burrus left Jan’s office and returned to work.That’s why Jan Cahoon was so upset. And we also know what lie Tami Cahoon Thomas made up. The big question is why didn’t anyone ask Burrus anything? Instead of being called the Clerk’s office that place should be call the OFFICE of LIES. What next Tami what next!

That’s a shame, well I think that’s the whole truth bornintheusa. What do you think knowthetruth? I think it’s aWitch Hunt like I said before . They’ve ruined Burrus’ reputation in the community. They made her look like a criminal. They gave false information to the personnal office. They used her name in the previous firing of another employee. They are dragging her in and out of court for the bogus charges making hard for her to seek other employment..Just putting her under all of this stress! They attempted to have her arrested for a second time just to intimidate her. They made false statements about her to have the building shut down a few months ago in a funny attempt to build a criminal case. They have been in contact with her first exhusband( a known abuser) and his family, mostly with his female cousins and mother. Wow, bornintheusa did you get all that. They were working hard to get rid of this woman, but they seemed to have made a lot of little mistakes along the way.They should of checked out the ex-inlaws before they started having conversations with them.Of course the ex-inlaws wouldn’t have anything nice to say about Burrus. Hello they are ex-inlaws ! And like the fact that Burrus’ exhusband already confessed that his family had been in contact with the Clerk herself. This fool actually bragged about it!Heck the abusers mother even repeated word for word a phrase that the Clerk used while on the phone with her in past months and recently. Something to the tune of Ms. Mary listen to me, this is from my heart to your heart etc. I’m sure the Craven County Clerk of Superior Court can finish her own statement. The abusers mother even expressed that she and the Craven County Clerk of Court have been good friends for a many years.Now that’s classic !That might just be why it was so hard for that man( the abuser) to do time or get arrested when he had three warrants for his arrest for what, failure to appear in court and for none payment of childsupport?? Now I wonder why didn’t the Clerk inform Burrus that she and her abusers family were such close friends? Since she and Burrus spent so much time in her office talking about everything else.Wouldn’t that be important information being that is on record that this man attempted to kill Burrus when she was married to him. Also knowing that Burrus still feared this man !And to boot, the funniest part of all of this is they gave Burrus a good evaluation plus a raise one hour before she reported her supervisor’s comments back on Jan 9 2008. This evaluation is dated and signed by no other than Tami Cahoon Thomas herself! And heck that’s not all! There are at least forty people that took pictures of the Clerk and the clerks smiling and dancing at this Burrus’ wedding one month before Burrus’ made any reports about her supervisor’s comments. Forty people that are willing to testify that they witnessed the Clerks’ behavior with Burrus. And they’ve stated “to take pictures with this woman in the place of her dead grandmother doesn’t say you have a problem with your employee”. “Istead it says you cared for and thought highly of your employee”.It’s funny how pictures tell a story. Say Cheese Craven County Clerk of Court! And it’s funny how this woman came back from her honeymoon Jan 8th and the Clerk didn’t have a problem with her, oh but not until Burrus made a complaint about a veteran of the Clerk’s office Tami Cahoon Thomas and only then did the Clerk have issues with Burrus. And beleive it or not one of the Clerk’s own varified all of this information. Even down to which clerk has been directed to say what and when. Say Cheese ! This is your Christmas present Craven County Clerk of Court. Now everybody can know what you have been up to. Just smile and say thanks ! What please don’t tell me you thought no one would rat you out! Please you’d be surprised who is smiling in your face and secretly supporting Burrus! Praise God !

Yes, I have.
II. Has your ex abuser been in contact with you or your daughter since this situation started?
Yes, He found out my location through the Clerk’s office along with the school that my daughter attends . Thus far, he has only sent horrible messages to my daughter and I.
III. Why do you have so many addresses in your name?
It’s a saftey precaution. My abuser has a bad habit of showing back up from time to time, so I try to make it hard for him to pin point exactly where we live. It’s for our safety. He is a real nut case!
IV. Will you remain in the area?
No….. It’s no longer safe for my daughter and I .
V. Have you remarried?
Yes I have happily remarried…
VI. Have you looked for other employment ?
Yes, I have updated my resume’ ……and yes, I do list the Craven County Clerk’s office on all appls….

Yes …always !
VIII. What reasons have the Clerk’s office given for their actions?
This is a good question… So far they have not given me a reason. They did not respond to the ESC. That’s why I am able to receive ESC benifits…. They have responded to EEOC but that’s after asking for an extention. I guess they needed more time to try to come up with a story. They have been digging around in my past trying come with something. It’s almost funny ! That’s all I can say about that subject for now……..
IX. What has shocked you the most?
All of this has been shocking . The warrant in Jan Cahoon’s name was the most shocking . I could of been out christmas shopping with my daughter . My child would of been traumatized for the rest of her life after having to see her mother arrested. I thank God that it didn’t happen the why Jan Cahoon planned it to.
X. What breaks your heart the most about this situation?
I had to explain to my daughter what happened on my job and what the Clerk’s office is trying to do now. It broke my heart to have such a big girl talk with her. I didn’t want to tell her that the woman that claimed to love her so much turned out to be a lying, back stabbing &@#%$ ! I have raised my daughter not to be judgmental and to love everybody…. My daughter had really become fond of a few of the clerks. So it has been a little hard for her to understand. I just try to remind her to always trust in God because man will sometimes let you down. And she’s a smart kid so she understands what I mean………..

No, Why should I be mad? I have a full productive life and I really don’t have time to walk around mad. I’m 2 blessed 2 be stressed !!!!!!

It seems to me that “NEPOTISM”, “IGNORANCE”, and “STUPIDITY” in the Craven County Courts Clerks Office is the cause of this vendetta against Ms Burrus. As a person whom consider’s Craven County and New Bern as my second home, I’m appauled that a county officer/clerk (elected or appointed) is allowed to have two high positions filled by persons related to each other. I hope that the citizens of Craven County take a note of this and enact a change. The county should also require that all employees receive work relations training to rid some of the embeded ignorance in things said and done in the workplace. This whole thing and the way the Court Clerk handled it, reveals a lot of stupid moves on their part. Any-one reading on this has to wonder, who is running the office.

I heard something hilarious today.
Tami Cahoon Thomas plans to be the next Craven County Clerk Of Superior Clerk. Now this is hilarious because (if) she throws her weight around now with lies, makes racist and offensive comments in the office, has spoiled fits to get her way, uses her current position and status as a relative of Jan Cahoon Clerk of Superior Court to intimidate others . Come on people , what do you think she’ll do as The Clerk of Superior Court?

Why didn’t the Clerk’s office respond to the employment security commission ?
I can answer that! They didn’t respond because they would of told more lies to explain their actions. They didn’t respond because they know Ms. Burrus didn’t do anything wrong.Duh !
I really should give the Clerk’s office a little credit because they have spent nearly a year digging in Burrus’ past just so they can justify their present actions. I wonder if the Clerk’s office is conducting this witch hunt just to prove to Ms. Burrus what powers and connections they have? Never the less, if that’s what this mess is all about then they have dropped the ball again.

I think Tami Cahoon Thomas forgot about the others that she has bullied lets see there was MW. She was lucky enough to find another job before Tami’s mess could get her fired. And there is FB poor thing was there for many years but was mysteriously fired and later convinced to sign retirement papers. I guess they did something funny with her too. I know a scorned woman when I see one.I have reread the article and all blogs related. I have even taken it upon myself to do a little investigating. I discovered that Ms. Burrus doesn’t have any connections downtown, but then you have to ask yourself “how did she get the job”? Because most of the clerks have connections like friends or relatives to put in a good word, heck you guys know how it go! I needed to find out who knew Ms. Burrus and what connections they have downtown. So I made several inquiries and now I know why The Clerk is behaving in such a scornful way towards Ms. Burrus.
She is upset mainly becuase of the behavior of her long time lover.And also because of the lies that were told by her assisant clerk. Now this makes more sense to me and it explains why The Clerk’s attitude changed so drastically towards Ms. Burrus. Shame Shame Shame all this is mainly over a man !wow wow wow I wonder if this is in Ms. Burrus’ book. If it is somebody let me know asap !

XI. saddest moment while working for the clerk’s office…. the saddest moment is the time a single mom ran through the halls of the clerk’s office begging for help…its was ten til’ five and most of the clerk’s had begun to leave for the day…. it was a cold rainy day too…and this woman actually begged for someone to help her…..she and her son had run out of gas in the courthouse parking lot…. it sadden me to see all of my then co workers ignore her a walk right past her….. I didnt …..I bought her a gas can and filled her car up with gas……. i did that because …it was the right thing to do…..I guess that’s one reason why i am so blessed !
XII. no, i don’t have any regrets…. yes, for this area it is considered a decent job….. in larger areas that position is considered entry level..only in the little hick towns is it considered a high level position…..yes, the work is easy..my 14 yr. old can do the work….. and you are correct Bev …you make very little money there and you are only paid once a month…….
XIII. no, that was the most boring job i’ve ever had… yes, most of the clerk’s are elderly……
XIV. my outlook for 2009….travel, live life 2 the fullest…smart investments, and to have at least 2 books in stores…..

hmmmm, I will give the Clerk’s office an E for effort. Ms. Burrus did appear in court today for the bogus failure to appear charge.Which was dropped ! And wouldn’t you know it, the good “ole “girls at the Clerk’s office attempted to have the trial for the bogus second degree trespass today, but their witness’s were not available!

I really feel bad for the assistant DA, she has no clue that the witches of Craven County are lying to her.
Now is it me or does it seem like the Clerk’s office is a bit backwards. They seem to say one thing and then turn around and do another.
And not only that, Burrus stated that she did ask the Assitant DA for a list of witness’ for this case .
Get this, the main person responsible for this mess is not on the witness list. Now that’s classic!
I guess they think by having a judge’s wife testify that would make there lies more believable! It’s really too late for cover ups, Burrus already knows the whole truth ! Nice try !
Can someone please tell me why Tami Cahoon Thomas is not on that list ? I mean , she is the one that lied on Burrus and started this mess!I guess the good “ole” girls club didn’t think anyone would notice . Well guess what ,someone noticed ! Anyway, the second degree trespass already had a set courtdate for 1/27/2009. So again, why were they trying to have the case heard today ? And why didn’t anyone notify Burrus of the new courtdate? Wouldn’t she need to know that ?? Or are the good “ole girls still trying to set Burrus up again ?

Dang, let me get this straight. Burrus went to court for a fta and they attempted to have the trial for second degree trepass instead. They knowingly attemped to have a trial that Ms. Burrus was not prepared for nor informed of , which also had another court date set for sometime in January 2009. Okay, am I being punked?
This has to be a joke ! They never informed Ms. Burrus of this new court date, oookay, didn’t they try that already in November !
And to top it all off ,they seemed to have miss placed their witness’. What the H* LL !
Shame shame shame ! And to have the nerve not to name the biggest liar as a witness is just unbelievable. And silly to say the least ! I can’t say that I’m surprised since they have dropped the ball with Burrus from day one ! Although, I really expected just a little more from the DA’s office. They could at least pretend that this is not a stupid case, even if the writing is on the wall!
It’s pretty clear that they’re pushing this because of the little buddy system with the Clerk’s office ! They need to ask themselves if that big liar is really worth them jeopardizing their hard earned careers ! Oh, sorry make that two big liars !
I just wonder how many times they’ve tried this bully method? It does seem as though they may need more practice ! Okay, again, now who voted this dummy into office? Such losers, they’re actually giving Ms. Burrus a harder time than that guy that threaten the lives of the Clerks in civil division a few years back!
Well, at least Ms. Burrus did learn something while she worked there, I’m just sorry I can’t say the same about the others. I mean they tried their best to make this woman look bad and all they’ve done is make themselves look incompetent.

No surprises with the Assistant DA’s list of witness’. But there is one name that sticks out!
This clerk in particular seems to be a favorite when it comes to being a witness . I really didn’t buy her feeble portrayal of a terrified clerk back then and I most certainly won’t buy her act now ! I wonder how she seems to be in the middle of everything and she hardly gets off her duff to do any work?I wonder if it’s because she helped spread a few lies herself or is it just because she’s married to a local bench warmer ? What ,will it sound better if she tells the lie?

my old supervisor also has a daughter, and although i have raised my own daughter to be god fearing, respectful, non judgmental, not to be materialistic, and above all not to be a racist…….it scares me to know that my old supervisor may be raising her daughter with some of the same mean spirited narrow-minded ways that she possess….which also leads me to say “I feel sorry for any little black girl that crosses her path or any child that is less fortunate”…because i’m certain she will display what she’s learned from home……..

to answer another question for you …yes, I do enjoy going to court because so far the clerk’s office as well as the Da’s office have proven exactly what i have been saying from the start…..
and no it is not funny…because the state has to pay for all of this mess…. the money used for this could be used to keep one of north carolina’s head start programs running…. and yes you are right” if the clerk and assistant clerk had to pay for this mess out of their own pockets this situation would have been dropped a long time ago”!
and yes, the clerk’s office does have an attorney representing them in the eeoc claim…. and again you are correct that’s more money being wasted because of ignorance! I ‘m not sure about your last question, but i guess this mess is being mostly paid for by tax payers….I will look into your last question and get back to you ……

What is the funniest thing that happened while working for the clerk’s office?
that’s easy, the funniest thing that happened is the time the ladies passed around a list for a potluck brunch,….. i think i had only been there maybe three months at that time,… anyway i added scones and strawberry marmalade to the list…well shortly after i returned the list of goodies to my then supervisor, she walked up to my desk and asked what is a scone…..i burst out into laughter… mainly because she always made it clear to me that she was of superior class and etiquette…….. well in my attempt to explain what a simple scone was …i noticed that she still had no clue what i was talking about..so i just changed my item to sausage biscuits from bo jangles…needless to say she did understand that……. kelly from then on i believe i just tried to keep everything simple with them ! that was 2 funny 2 me!

I. what type of experience is needed to work for the clerk’s office?
now this is a good question…. when the clerk posts a position at the local employment security commission she seems to enjoy posting bogus requirements for the positions she has open… for example you must have experience or you must be able to type 60 words per min. or there is a degree requirement….. but that’s not the case at all….
first of all its doesn’t matter if you have earned masters degree you will not get a job there unless you are related, or a friend to someone currently working there…..
yes, its true she will hold a few mock interviews but she will only hire someone that is “quote on quote” somewhat already in the little craven county click!
II. did any of the clerks receive special treatment in the office?
yes, there are some clerks that are allowed to read books all day long while on the states time…
there are some clerks that are allowed to surf the web all day while on the states time…..
there is a clerk that is allowed to make her on work schedule…….. and her time sheet does not always reflect that schedule……(stealing states time)
there are clerks that are allowed to be late to work everyday and their time sheets never reflect their tardiness…(stealing states time)
there is a clerk that is allowed to sit at her desk all day looking at LL BEAN catologs instead of helping the public……………
there is clerk that is allowed to actually sit there and ignore the public(while reading baby magizines or eating)
there is a clerk that takes one in a half to two hour luch breaks and her time sheet never seems to reflect those extra long breaks….(stealing the states time)
and yes the clerk is aware of all of that… the other clerks tend to run back and forth telling on each other and depending on who your husband is, your sister is , or if your dad works for the sheriff’s department …your actions are ignored !
oh and i forgot one.. there is a mandatory dress code …and i’m sure you’ve already guessed it…. there are some clerks that are allowed to come to work looking just like they just rolled out of bed and they are actually allowed to go work in the courtrooms looking a HOT mess !

this is a very good question..
why haven’t you filed charges against the Sheriff’s office?
well i have not filed any complaints against them for their roll in this mess b/c after i was taken to the magistrate’s office both deputies apologized and stated and i quote ” they did not want to do this” ( this being the arrest)
they both were very sincere and one of the deputies became visibly upset by the whole situation, the Lt. of the shff’s department also apolgized …
the arresting deputy is the first one to recommend that I sue the clerk’s office for making the false call to start with ………… and the day after the incident I also spoke with the major of the shff ’s department at his home and he stated and i qoute” sometimes the clerk’s office do things and the shff ’s department is unfairly dragged into the situation”….. so with that said i am not filing any charges against them, but there is a full chapter in my book concerning the major……..

i am inspired to continue in this process first b/c i want my name cleared….
i’m inspired b/c i want people of color or anyone less fortunate (of any nationality) to be able to walk into that office and be treated with dignity and respect..
i want this to be a wake up call for the clerk’s office and a reminder that those nasty mannerisms that are often laced with bigotry need to be a thing of the past……..and i competely understand that most if not all of those mannerisms have been passed down through the generations of clerks…i feel that now is the time the state realizes that the elected clerks need to be educated prior to taking office …….. because in my experience i have noticed they don’t seem to have common sense enough to know that they can’t do the same unethical things that they’ve seen previous clerks of court do….time changes and so does the law !

that rumor is true….i did make every attempt to stay out of the office by working in court as much as possible…….being in the office all day with her made me feel horrible…..i spent many days vomiting…..because of that!! and to top that off everyday just like clock work she wore the same black pants……which also meant that everyday just like clock work by 11 am she had really bad BO….i would never knowingly hurt her feelings so i never mentioned it to her…in hope that one of the other ladies would tell her…. ….

To Date I still say shame shame shame craven county clerk’s office. You wasted the states time and money and for what? To make the craven county DA’s office look stupid. And to make yourself look and sound like country trailer trash.Boy Mr. Jack was right about you ! And I heard wide load did not even testify. What gives? I guess her sorry fat ass could not look that woman in the face and tell that lie again.
Ms. Kenyatta does not have a law degree but yet she still held her own in court today. And might I add she was up against two of the DA’s tokens. Not one but two of craven county’s idiots.
This was a waste because Ms. Kenyatta is still going to sue. I guess your attempt to intimidate didn’t work because I don’t think Ms. Kenyatta has dropped any charges against old knock kness or wide load. Oh well I guess the fat lady has yet to sing on this one! Ms. Kenyatta walked away with a prayer for judgment and court cost that I was more than happy to fork up the money for !
I just have one thing to say to you Ms. Kenyatta Burrus. I understand that you give to others often I just hope that when you win your case against those lying racist crackers you will keep the money for yourself. It’s time for you to just do you!
And I know that it is jacked up for me to call them lying racist crackers being that I am white myself. But I call it the way I see it. Those clerk’s really make us look bad. Most of us in this area don’t behave like those jackass clerk’s. And race is not an issue for us all in this town. And I hope this doesn’t make African American ’s not want to visit or relocate here.
I frequent the craven county clerk’s office often at least twice a month and I know how they act. I know that most of them are lazy and I know that Ms. Kenyatta was treated like shit while she worked there. I guess she stayed because she needed her job just like anybody else.
But that’s okay Kenyatta you are better off and you know it. You have proven that there is work to be done in our town and we all need to step up and do away with this negative junk. You have opened my eyes along with countless others to the fact that we have elected people in office that have no signs of higher education and we put them there and expect them to be leaders. And it’s the blind leading the blind!
I am ashamed of Jannette H Cahoon for trying to cover up the wrong doings of Tami Cahoon Thomas. This matter should of been handle better but that’s what happens when you just stick a jackass in office with no more that a high school education and some on the job training!

i want you all to know that i have read all of your very supportive emails….
i am truly humbled by your kindness…..but i can not take credit for the blessings and favor i have received….. how can i.. i give GOD all glory…..
first of all… yes i am still in the process of suing …that has not changed….
there was no shock value to my trial today and no victory for them….. i already knew that they would try to carefully put a lie together…..they had been trying for just about a year to find something that would stick……to no avail for them……
i pretty much knew who would tell what lie in court today…..and what questions the weak assistant district attorney would ask…. i however was surprised to see her clearly spoon feed which questions to ask me during the trial…..i was embarrassed for her….i guess she could not handle an ex deputy clerk of only a mere two and a half years……. now that’s pretty pathetic …. maybe she should consider mailing her law degree back to the college she attended…..if that is the case?….
and to answer Robert’s question…. yes all details of todays trial will be added to my book…….. i’m working on that now….and yes the detials will be blow by blow of what happened….and i will include to big question that she never answered….while she was on the stand under oath….
and yes Robert she did lie while under oath, what did you expect.?… did you expect her to tell the truth.?…and no the lying coward did not testify and yes i still stand by what i’ve stated before…. ignorance is no excuse for their calculated unethical behavior……but again this is mayberry so what can you expect …..

dang, she’s married to a gay dude? what in the hell !? jenn. sounds like you are friends with that family you know all their business. You shouldn’t be too mad because Burrus is a smart lady, she’ll get a job when she’s ready and besides you can’t keep a lady like Burrus down.
I use to see her all the time and she didn’t look hungry or stressed to me. We are building a few projects together and trust me she is a smart lady. Jenn. even with our email tagging she’s putting things together nicely. I know she can’t be doing that bad, she does fly from coast to coast. Those nutty people don’t get it. Burrus is a private lady and unless she tells you , you can’t be sure where in the hell she is in the US. So don’t worry about Burrus, instead you need to say a prayer for those country broke ass state employees. Their stupid asses gave Burrus a paid vacation. You see the current economy for yourself nobody is hiring. So let those country nut jobs keep serving the public on those minute salaries getting wide asses and rounded shoulders from being slumped over a counter all day. It’s not Burrus’ problem if that is the most they are capable of making. I really don’t think they even knew Burrus .She had bank when she took that job with those country fools and she was working part time as an advocate. I think they assumed she was a struggling single mother because that’s what they wanted to believe. She worked hard to save her money . They were the fools that thought just because she was black and a single mother she was going to kiss their ass for that pissy little job. All they had to do is look at her italian boots and hand bags. She already out dressed all the of those back woods bitches before she started that job. Burrus and her daughter took vacations every other month before she started working there. And after she started working there the old major kept her shoe game tight and he flipped the bill for her and her daughter to go shopping once a month ,plus he flipped the bill for Burrus to treat her girlfriends out to lunch a lot.And don’t let that Jan lady fool you she gave Burrus money when she wanted it, too.Jan did anything to keep the major happy even if it ment catering to Burrus. Now something went wrong in that group and Burrus didn’t tell me any more details but I do know that she has put everything in her book. So all jokes aside I can tell you are someone close to those families. I think and I hope that you’ll agree during the civil case or the book the truth will come out. Families will be ruined and more jobs will be lost. I really don’t care one way or another the Clerk should know better than to allow a newbie to know secrets and then turn around and fire them. That’s stupid on the Clerk’s part! It is what it is!

I almost missed your email…. Okay your question is…. Why did you fire your attorney to represent yourself?
I fired my attorney because I was informed that the Clerk’s office had already set everything up the way they wanted the outcome….so a friend told me to just save my money because it didn’t matter if I had an attorney or not the outcome would be the same…..so I canned my attorney…
and saved a few grand…..which when you think about it was a good idea because now I have more saved up for my civil case….
Your next question is… Are you mad yet?
I think I answered this before…No I am still not mad……….
Roger I have no idea how much this has cost the state. I really don’t care because they allowed her to waste money on me…….And I guess she needed to make a point…..Now they still have to deal with my claim against them……..Which will be a totally different ball game from the way the criminal case was handled………and as far as this blog..I will post a new one soon…..anyway I need to get some sleep I do have a long flight ahead of me……stay in touch!

On a lighter note! Burrus has been given a few new nicknames by her supporters and people in the community. This is amazing they call her Moses and the other half call her Matlock! Now how’s that for filling some big shoes . Apparently by Burrus taking on the racist pigs of Craven County Clerk’s office single handedly has gained her much respect throughout the district.
Burrus went to court without any witnesses and no attorney she represented herself well. So well that the poor Craven County District Attorney ’s Office provided not one but two Black Assistant District Attorney’s that still could not hold a candle to this woman.
Good job Patty Waddell you trained Burrus very well. And you gave a wonderful testimony in Burrus’ defense. Maybe we were wrong about you!

” her day to day reminders that I am just a well dressed nigga began to weigh heavily on mind, I clearly remember expressing my heart breaking concerns to my dearest fair headed friend. And although I knew that she could never truly relate she did the ultimate in the form of revenge and in the name of friendship.I never thought I would see the day when a white woman would mimic my favorite actress from the Color Purple. My petite friend grabbed the Mountain Dew bottle from the desk of our over weight superior and hacked up a thick lump from the depths of her throat right into the Mountain Dew bottle. I stood there in that office in amazement that such a pretty woman could do something so down right nasty. Nevertheless , I was pleased and now we shared one of many secrets that would get us through the work week for years to come. My fair headed friend just turn and walked out of the office, she never said anything to me about her acts of loyalty and I in return never asked her any questions. She would just wink at me in passing when I was having a bad day in the office. And that simple act kindness made me smile every time. After being seated at my desk for a short time my greedy superior return to her office and summoned me there with her demands of the day. But today was different , today I ran to her office door with my movie star smile plasterd across my face. I thought to myself “Yes, today is a good day” as I stood there and watched her thick little fingers wrapped around that Mountain Dew bottle as she sucked down all of my fair headed friend’s throat sludge. I never uttered a word to anyone . I just walked the halls of that courthouse whisling and smiling because now I knew that I really had a reason to smile.”

I will support Burris in anyway I can. I too had a situation with Jan Cahoon several years ago. I still have all documentation in hand. Jan Cahoon is as crooked as some of the attorney’s that practice in Craven County, which she allows to do anything they they want and get by with it. This is not only done by Cahoon, but the DA, and some Judges committing crimes as well, and should be removed. They allowed an attorney to stand before them, file motions, etc., knowing his license had been suspended by the NC State Bar, without ever telling me. It was only after the damage was done that I learned of his suspension. I filed a complaint with the Bar, and they had his hearing prior to it’s calendared date. I saved everything and can prove everything stated. The DA has refused to advise any judge on the District Court Bench in Carteret County that an illegal alien served with a Bigamy warrant has suppossedly left the courts jurisdiction voluntarily, after being given a VD (voluntary departure), so his bond can be forfeited and a bench warrant issued for his arrest the next time he’s seen, as he has been by several. Certain attorneys run our court systems, and it isn’t right. The DA was partners with the firm that represents this illegal in INS issues, guess he doesn’t want to act against them. The X-DA represents him on the Bigamy Warrant that was served on 2-1-07, almost 2 years ago, while he was out on bond from INS Court for deportation, still no no indictment. When I tried to meet with him (our x-DA) about the attorney practicing on a suspended license, the Asst. DA tried hard to convenience me that there was nothing they could do, which was BS., but offerred to help me if I ever got a ticket. Judge Paul Quinn ordered a warrant for the illegal “Asmar” but when it was recorded, a dismissal was recorded 1 minute later. The crooked attorney for Child Support said it was a clerical error, but never corrected it??? Was this the Judge doing this, or was it Child Support doing it for the attorney that got the order signed getting a fraudulent annulment for the illegal, when none of the reasons under NC Law applied? Not to mention this attorney heard him admit to Bigamy for INS purposes during discovery, but this attorney gets anything he wants from Judge Peter Mack, and schedules all his cases before him. What a shame our citizens have to deal with such a corrupt system. For someone like Jan Cahoon, as crooked as she is, to be Clerk of Court is unbelievable. I’m at the point I don’t think anyone in our judicial system can be trusted. I’ve got lots more on Cahoon, if anyone is interested. I was going to do a book on them too, but will be glad to give Burris everything I have for her’s. She needs to contact individual’s that she knows were screwed, and get their stories too. If EEOC claim is still active, I will give them the info too. If they’re not, then file an appeal and keep it open. My last piece of advice is to see a doctor preferrably a Psychiatrist, explaining the circumstances, and your inability to work, and discus applying for your SS Disability, as the more time is wasted, the lower the benefits. I would also file for any benefits available through the County or State. I will help with this. I have names of others that were really screwed Jan Cahoon you can contact for their stories. I’d run an ad asking people to contact you. You might be surprised at the responses. Oh, the Clerk in Carteret Co. also voted with the attorney that gets everything he wants from Judge Mack, when it came to getting his client 1/2 the equity out of the sale of the home, when the law is clear that the individual that knowingly commits bigamy isn’t entitled to anything, and she had the statute right in front of her, but he told her it only applied to estates, which is a lie. Got lots more on this crew.

sorry it has taken me so long to respond to your email….
anyway , i can’t answer your 1st question b/c it will give away details of how i uptained proof to win my civil case ………..and who provided me with proof……….
your 2nd question is ……. how do you feel about this town now? and is the book ready?
i love my tiny town….i would tell anyone that it is a great place for a family……and i would never allow the actions of a few bad eggs to change how i feel….
besides right now i’m very proud of my tiny town b/c the community came together to suppport me in ways that really count… they made sure that i never went to court alone……..and when i was very stressed …people that i had not heard from or seen in years… showed up to show support…..by providing my favorite dishes….. and when i ate to much of my favorite dishes …they showed up again to help me walk off a few pounds …….
and they sent many checks hidden in sweet cards……of course i have always returned the checks and kept the cards…..
and these are people of all walks of life……some i only met once or twice while working for the clerk’s office…. and many others i have known for years……i mean some would just come right out and ask which bills could they pay for me…again i would turn them down..
and when i went downtown to shop… people that i didn’t know…would just pat me on my back …others would just let me know how sorry they were for what happened…… and of course there are some people that would avoid me in fear that someone would see them speaking to me and report back to the clerk….
it’s silly and i didn’t stress over it…. i really didn’t know that i had so many friends or just people that cared so much about me…..who knew……
your 3rd question….. why didn’t you just go off and cuss that tami person out?
i DID NOT do that 1st b/c my mother asked me not to…. so i just went to work each day dealing with all of that mess or i prayed to God that i would be in court all week and out of tami’s way……2nd i’m too mature….. and 3rd i didn’t b/c it was clear to me……….. by the comments made…. that she is/was ignorant…..
i was never rude to any of them…..
and i treated the public with respect……
but i guess this is what can happen when you treat people with respect….. some never forgot that you were the only person jumping up to help them when the office was filled with other clerks……this is what you can get in return….. a supportive community…..people backing you just b/c….
yes, the book is ready…..i completed the cover this weekend…but b/c of the content it will not be released until after the civil case has ended….

what can i say vickie…sometimes bad things just happen to good people, but you can’t just give up when life gets you down….you just keep it moving…
besides this whole thing is not all about me!
..it’s about the people in my community that have to go to the courthouse on the regular……i on the other hand could care less if i didn’t see that old plantation ever again…. i want this situation to make the clerks service the public better and to stop treating the people like invisible trash…
the clerks have to remember that if not for those same people…. voting the clerk into office none of them would have a job……..so when that little old dirty black man…. comes into the clerk’s office…. on the same day every month…to ask a question or to make a payment on his bill…the clerks should treat him the same way they would an attorney or someone that’s well dressed….
that’s an example of one thing that did upset me! and i have gone in great detail about it in my book….among other things..
to tell you the truth vickie i was too good to work among most of them b/c i care too much about my people…..(all people) and to work there you have to adopt their nasty ways……..
i just can’t see myself walking around that building mistreating the same villiage that raised me…..

your 1st question….
kenyatta is it true that you told your ex-husband to keep his child support and that he should use it to get a mental eval……?
I have not spoken to my 1st ex-husband in many years , but i did tell his mother to pass that message to him….after being told that he was back in town looking for me , calling my old job and making threats thru friends and family…and i did remove him from the child support system…..and i do not intend on putting him back in..i mean it’s not like he was paying it in the 1st place..child supoort was more of a head ache for me and he often used it as a way to pop up every 3 to 4 years causing problems for me….. he has problems that i have out grown!!!!.besides i moved on along time ago……i can take care of my daughter and i have done so very well with little or no help from him or his family for many years….i have freed myself and my daughter from his drama and abuse….and no my daughter has not requested to contact him and that’s b/c she doesn’t really know him..i left him when she was very young…….however i did try to leave the door open for them to have some type of relationship but my daughter made it 100% clear that she did not want a relationship with him…so i closed that chapter once and for all for the both of us…..no regrets there..
your next question is… kenyatta is it true that in your 2nd marriage you only spent 6 weeks as husband and wife in the same house?
yes, that is true… i was done with my 2nd husband by the sixth week of marriage b/c he began to behave like my 1st husband… i am no fool and i will not put up with a sorry man……he played the role until i agreed to marry him…and then started acting just like a fool..and i don’t have time for that….. so i moved on with my life……trust me there are no regrets there……..
your 3rd question is … how has your daughter taken all of this?
i am proud to say that i have raised a very mature smart , well behaved young lady….she is old enough to have big girl converstaions so.. when i explained that she could no longer call ms. patty or run thru the courthouse to find jan or connie…. she was upset at first but then she got over it quickly by the time jan signed that order for arrest..i have raised her to be forgiven…..and she prays for all of them…..she too has moved on from that chapter…. but she also understands that there are some bad people in this world…other than that she is a blessing….i have enjoyed this time at home with her…i must say …that with God’s help i have done a very good job raising her….
now maybe you should ask me that question again after i return to the working world..b/c i have spoiled her and my husband by being home all day…they kind of adjusted quickly to me making them a full breakfast each morning and wonderful dishes for dinner.every night….
i’m sure they both will give me a fit for returning back to work……

Kenyatta: You are truly amazing and wise. Hang in there girl, and remember, what goes around, comes around. You will definitely come out on top.
I am so proud of you, just as I’m sure so many at the courthouse are, but don’t have the guts to stand up and applaude you for what you’ve done, and continue to do. You are so much smarter than the average bear, and wise enough to practice the good important things in life you’ve been taught.
At some point Jan Cahoon won’t be in a position to continue supporting all the crooked lawyers in Craven County, and again, you will be applauded by the good honest ones, and snubbed by the bad ones, just remember to always smile, that seems to get their goat quicker than anything else that could be said or done, after all, they know what they are, they don’t have to be told….a big smile says it all.

A few years ago during my fight with the unjust judicial system in Craven County, and my fight with the lies, and act of Jan Cahoon the message below was sent to me by a dear friend, and I’d like to pass it on to Kenyatta.
Although my friend titled it: “Litle old grey haired lady to do wonders sometimes.” I want her to understand you don’t have to be a little old grey haired lady to do what’s right.
Susan B. Anthony devoted some fifty years of her life to the cause of woman suffrage. After casting her ballot in the 1872 election in her hometown of Rochester, NY, she was arrested, indicted, tried, and convicted for voting illegally. At her two day trial in 6-1873, which she described as “the greatest judicial outrage history has ever recorded,” she was convicted and sentenced to pay a fine of $100. and court cost.
Anthony took full advantage of the high-profile case to promote the cause of woman suffrage. In a speech delivered repeatedly in 1872-73, she exhorted her listeners to “fight our battle for the ballot-all peaceably, but nevertheless presistently through to complete triumph, when all United States citizens shall be recognized as equals before the law.” Women gained the vote with the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment to the Constitution in 1920, fourteen years after Anthony’s death.
I keep a printed copy of this message just to the right of my monitor, where I can be reassured at a glance, that “I can” help make a difference in our world, just as “she can”.
I pass this on to Kenyatta with the same love, and encouragement that was given to me .

how often did the racist acts occur with the customers?
1st , believe of not i was raised to believe that i am equal and that i can do what ever i put my mind to do…….. in my eyes there no such thing as one race being better or less than another…..
that was how i felt then and that’s how i feel now….and to add that’s how i have raised my daughter…. to me it’s sad to see such small minds and ignorance in such a great town…
2nd,…actually , i had never be called the (N) until i worked for the clerk’s office….. i was called the (N) word by this guy(white guy) that came in the office already mad at the world and he took it out on me…and instead of the supervisor (donna) who was in charge that day having my back she (a white woman) told me to leave the office and go home…of course i was shocked….but i didn’t say anything to her or the guy(white guy)..i just left and went home for the day…and when i returned to work the next day i went to Tami(who was not there the day before) to tell her about what happened ..she told me that it had nothing to do with her because she wasn’t there the day it happened…..so the issue was never addressed and i left it alone…..i went to Tami b/c she was the next person in line to speak with about that matter…even though she herself is/was a racist…i was really b/n a rock and a hard place……so i just left the whole thing alone….i needed my job….so i just shut my mouth…..
it was pretty sad… working there b/c i have seen a person of color come into that office and just look at one of the white clerks wrong and the clerks would call the sheriff’s department on them….and that guy was allowed to call me a name and i was the one who got sent home……..that was not right!!!!
and i have seen a person of color just standing in the hall..not doing anything and the clerk named terry reported that he scared her and again the sheriff department was called to remove the man….and that happened first thing one morning…he was just standing by the cashier’s window…and she just so happened to have walked by while he was standing there…….looking funny and weird as she called it….now that was a bunch of bull…and all the white clerks stood in the hall to watch this man be rushed and put down to the floor ….even jan….and then taken away……. and to add to that the only white person i had seen the white clerks pretend to be affraid of was a guy that said he would have to shot some body to get some help..but even then it took forever for the sheriff deparment to come and then he was treated like royalty……and after that jan told each clerk that he could still come into the courthouse if he wanted to..and that if need be she would help him with anything he needed…now when that witch had me arrested she of course stated that she did not want me in the courthouse…..and she did everything in her little bitty power to keep me from being served in that courthouse and of course that didn’t work out the way she planned it to work….. but that was still some racist bull …….( and before you ask she still has not given a reason for her actions) but we all know why it happened!!!

and to add if a person of color came into that office speaking other than english..the white clerks would send them away to find someone that could speak for them…or they would turn around and look at me..and i always thought that was stupid b/c if i could log on the nc aoc web to get a spanish english dict. or what ever i needed to help the person….. so could they….. but that never happened… ……. like i said before they were mostly a waste of the states money because half of them didn’t do anything to earn that once a month pay check……unless you count eating on the job!
now don’t get me wrong there were a few there that worked really hard for the public and these few didn’t pick and choose who they would help …they just did their jobs…. and yes those few are in the book and they are reflected as honest hard workers……one that sticks out in my mind has been there for over 30 years….. helen p… now she is a quick witted woman ….she talks junk to everybody …..color didn’t matter to her….and she was a hard working woman..that all of those lazy clerks need to be more like…..(Tami included)
i enjoyed watching her fly through the halls getting stuff done…..we both walked fast while running around helping the public so the most she could say to me is “hi kenyatta” and then she would be gone……

no, like i said before the first book is my coming out book ..you know just because i can and in your face….the first book is about the craven county courthouse and all the drama that came with working there with those crazy old ladies……and yes, i go into detail about all their business….what ever i heard or saw or found out i wrote about it….
from the drunk, to the gay chick….to the swinger, to the chick that uses her outdoor activities to cheat on her husband.( yes, you know the one that keeps getting ticks and chiggers on her butt)….to the clerk whose husband used funerals as a means to pick up women and to cheat on his her…..to the crooked attorneys …to the illegal bids for land …to the people that got favors from judges……to the cover ups……to the love affairs….. to the drug deals…to the missing drug money…. to the drug addicts….to the way they cheat the state……to the whores in the clerk’s office…. i pretty much cover it all……i even covered the lover boy from the sheriff’s departmaent that has had just about all the freakin clerks even the clerk herself..( not including myself of course)… and the jacked up clerk with the bad skin who only likes black d*%$…..yeah ..she’s in the book too !!!!!!i even covered the tokens.( can’t forget them)..from the clerk’s office and the District attorney’s office… to tell you the truth i don’t think i left anyone out of my book…
now of course there are a few that i made look good and that’s only because i like them……and FYI i only included 2 judges in my book..the others are good people and they actually do their job the way they are suppose to do it….. 2 females have been left out and the newest judge along with my blonde buddy….. i did not put them in the book…..point blank they do their job….. the right way!!!!!
oh and lets not forget the clerk whose husband is gay and his co worker slash lover…i had to put her in the book just to show why her attitude at work sucked and why she is in need for so much attention…….and let’s not forget the crazy chick that still counts her dead child’s birthdays like the child is still alive…..and the judge’s wife that actually thinks that marital status can buy her class…..oh yeah she’s in my book too. oh and i added my old attorney , who turned out to be a yellow tailed fake…….yeah, his sorry butt is in the book too. and any and all things that he has done wrong….. to the talking ass cleaning lady…..and at last the old crazy avon lady that would show up in the clerk’s office and refer to this phrase everytime she saw my little black face…( times have really changed …while looking at me and shacking her head like i didn’t belong there) of course i go into more details about her in the book…….
my book will be worth the money….. and i plan to include free t-shirts promoting my other books …….

did any of the other clerks try to assist you in any way?
yes, ronda sawyer actually told me to get my affairs in order b/c tami was trying to get me fired….. this happened after i reported everything to jan cahoon…and she in return told tami everything i reported to her.. and after i was banned from all courtrooms in craven county….just b/c tami was mad as hell with me…… i know that sounds funny.. it sounded funny to me too the first time i heard it…what idiots…..now of course you know the crackers came up with some type of lie….and yes…it’s in the book….
anyway, so after ronda sawyer told me that ….i did just that i got my affairs in order just in case she was right…
first of all i stop paying into their little petty cash fund b/c there was no way in hell i was just going to give those bitches my money…and second i cleaned of my desk( one item at a time) and just left the little trash that they gave as gifts for every holiday……..so just in case ronda was right they would not get the pleasure of seeing me walk out carring any boxes or trash bags……..( and wouldn’t you know it …that was the first thing the good judge’s wife did was clean of my desk and put everything in two clear trash bags…..so you know it was funny as hell when they sent those trash bags downstairs to me by one of the deputies and i sent that shit right back upstairs with a message that none of that cheap junk belonged to me that my desk had be cleaned off for months…)
third i paid off all my bills and saved every pay check , made copies of every file that i needed to prove my soon to be case……and i got all my notes in order…and i had notes from the first day of work to the day that i walked in on jan cahoon and the sam bundy up until the bitches pulled this bull with me…i kept up with everything they did and everything i did including dates times and who was present in the room when ever something happened….i even made notes on what they had on…and how many times they wore the outfit during the week…..and tami wore the same damn black pants every freakin day so keeping up with her was easy…….
there were a few others but you’ll have to read the book to find out the rest and there is plenty more…
trust me…if you ever wondered were the whores, drunks, gays( not that there’s anything wrong with being gay) and crooks are…they all work in the freakin courthouse!!!
roger the funniest thing about all of this is that the judge’s wife did warn them early on that i was smart and listened to everything…
well she was right !!!! hell ..she is the one that told me that everybody has a boss and then she showed where to find the agencies to file complaints….for judge’s , attorneys, district attorney and ADA’s….the clerks and the clerk herself….and she showed me everything right there in the office… like i said before she had her issues but she did train the hell out of me….she made sure i knew the laws for our state and federal laws too…….
i think that’s what shocked me the most …the fact that the clerk jan chaoon and tami cahoon thomas didn’t know or didn’t care that what they were doing is against the law……. there is just no PC in that office at all…..they are really stuck in the 30’s

First of all this is crazy. I have herd both sides of the story. Lets say that at least half of both sides are true. Lets say Kenyatta did have some issues thet are needing to be resolved. How does it look to constently use racial comments (Crakers, bitches, whores, etc.) in all of her statements when she using the exact reasoning for her case. There is not one black person who would not be upset if they were called (Niggers, Bluegums, Porch Monkeys, Burr Heads, Stump Jumpers, etc.) So why would she not expect the Clerk of Courts office to be upset. Why do you think the NAACP wouldn’t help her. “Thers no case”. I am so tried of hearing Blacks being miss treated or no being treated equal. How can they be treated equal when they are constently coming up with sepratist organizations (BET, NAACP, etc.) Just everybody be people. You will then be seen equal. You already are equal, don’t make yourself not equal. Last I looked we have a black President. He seems to have equal rights. He seems to have made it from poor roots to a good school and make something of himself. Lets spend less time looking for a hand out and more time looking a Job.

this situation was a hard one for the president of the NAACP…he could not do much b/c EEOC is involved with this case…he can only step in when EEOC has completed their work in the case….but then you have to think about…if he really did anything what do you think the local clerk supporters would do to him…I mean look at what they did to me……..
For your information I did not ask for their help directly….. but I did ask the president of the local chapter about the lack of action in this case….at the time he stated that I AM JUST A LITTLE LEAF ON A BIG TREE AND THAT GOD WOULD TAKE CARE OF ME…..THEN HE LATER TOLD ME ABOUT WHAT HE COULD AND COULD NOT DO WHEN EEOC IS INVOLED….
I ALSO ASKED ABOUT THEIR ACTIONS WITH THE BILL HARPER ISSUE……
the president of the local chapter is in the book b/c I don’t agree with everything he does but….his lack of action is more b/c he is limited in what he can do when eeoc is involved…….in my case!!!!!!!

Yes, I do….I have taken the time to research cases like mine in our state and I’m sad to say that this type of thing happens a lot…it’s almost like some people don’t know any better or they just don’t care……..so after you hear their lie after lie and …..I do get a little bored but of course I didn’t expect them to tell the truth…..people like this never do…..

what other organization have you donated to?
b/c of my daughter i have recently started donated to animal shelters out of state….we kind of started that after she found a hurt puppy while traveling and when we did find a shelter for the poor puppy….the person there explained how the animal shelters have suffered b/c of low donations….so we found a wal mart and just purchased a lot items they’ll need to take care of the animals…..and for now I send checks to the same shelter and I plan to look into helping a few others……I just don’t know a lot about animal shelters …so me and my daughter are looking into that now……if you have any suggestions on the best way to help them let me know………..
my daughter would like to start a foundation in her name for animals…….

yes, i eat too much… and i have a bad habit of not proof reading when i blog and send emails….. i buy shoes when i don’t need them…..( i’m working on that)…and i can’t eat with dropping something…….and i leave my paint brushing all over the house……..i’m sure if you ask the hubby he can come up with a bigger list…..

hey DJ,
right now i’m into organic food…and i plan to grow my own veggies again this summer…but i do cook soul food….not so many sweets though……
and i do pay attention to those with health problems when i cook …….most of the time i just keep it simple……
cooking relaxes me …..i love to do it, so why not give away a few meals….then the person can use the little money that they do have on something else……and it takes no time to warm up my dishes……besides i have to cook everyday anyway….so i just cook a little more to share…..
and it works for me b/c i don’t always have money to give………
and i’m not sure how long i’ll do this..i guess as long as God blessing me with the means to …..

Ok. This is my first post on this blog but I’ve been keeping up with it (while laughing my ass off)! Just so you’ll know, if you post on her highness’s other blog, she’ll delete you ASAP. I posted on it today and…away it went! If it doesn’t show her in a good light, it goes away. What does that tell you? It’s so sad that she needs the attention and love so bad. I actually wish there was something that we could do to get her the help she needs. I can’t help but wonder about her husband(s). They must have gone through hell with her. Maybe we should pray for her? She needs it. She talks about God but I don’t think she knows Him. Oh well…..

WOW. the NAACP decides there is not enough there to get involved. They get involved in everything so there really must be nothing there. EEOC has not made a ruling. The original reporter did not talk to any co workers? Pretty bad or one sided reporting if you ask me. If all she claims is there a good reporter should be able to dig up something. A lot of smoke but is there a fire?

Are the photos referenced earlier in these comments still up and available anywhere?
And is your EEOC complaint form available to read anywhere? I have an employment situation developing where I work and it has some of the same (racial) issues. I’d like to see how to start the process, if needed. If the clerk’s response is available, too, I’d like to see that.
